Updated MedStar Hospital Visitor Policies

It looks like Fresh 48s are back on in MedStar Hospitals!

You are also allowed to have 2 support persons during labor & delivery.  (one of which may be a doula–which I HIGHLY recommend)!

According to their website ,

-Postpartum-
Two visitors per patient in the room during visiting hours. Visitors may switch off once during visiting hours.
Support person has no restriction on hours and may spend the night (must be 18 years of age or older, unless parent of the baby).
One sibling may visit with an adult visitor over the age of 18 (counting as one of the two visitors) prior to 7 p.m.

What is a Fresh 48 Session?

Fresh 48s capture those first few hours of your baby’s life while you are still in the hospital (or at home if you’ve had a homebirth).   They are perfect for remembering all those little details that tend to get lost in the haze of new parenthood.  I mean, you’ve just been through a lot!  You are probably not going to remember your hospital room number, or the name of your charge nurse–but these are awesome things to look back on.   Not to mention those first yawns & tiny feet & hands.  They change so much in those first few days.

There’s no posing involved in these types of sessions.  I will just capture you getting to know your newest member of your family.

How it works–

I will arrive during the first 24-48 after delivery. (In the hospital, it will have to be during visiting hours).
These session typically last 60-90 minutes but I will try to get as much done as soon as possible so you can rest.
